1920 Aladdin Lamp Shade

1920 Aladdin Lamp Shade

It is has been a while since I have updated the blog on the old house. I will be posting more pictures of items from the old house and more stories about the house and items.

Pictured is a beautiful 1920’s Aladdin #501-11 lampshade. It is white frosted glass with a clear glass skirt with pineapples in the design. We found out that it is one of the most desirable Aladdin lampshades. Its value is between $200.00 and $400.00.

I was thinking it might be worth $10.00. What a surprise I had when I wrote an antique lamp company sending them pictures of the shade. They wrote me back with information about the shade and the value.

We have not decided if to sell it or find a lamp for it to go on.

We actually have two of these but one has a small piece of glass missing from it. It might be fixable. We are going to put the one with the missing piece of glass on ebay and see if there is interest and if it can be fixed.

Douglas Fir Floor

The Douglas Fir flooring has been sold it was 3 1/4" wide. We had around 800 to 900 square feet.

It is being put in an old house in the Oakland. I am hoping we can get pictures of it when they have put it in and re-finshed it. It should turn out beautiful.

Seattle World's Fair 1962

Seattle World's Fair 1962. These are two tickets to the Century 21 FAIRLINER, the tram that took people around the grounds to provide a little rest from all the walking. The tram was a small cab towing multiple cars of molded plastic-like material.

Re Purposed

It takes someone with a special eye to see when something can be re-purposed.
I have always said when most of us think something is junk, Josh sees $$$. He also has a good eye for items that can be re-purposed.
Many of the furniture items in the old house were not in great condition. They all have  some good qualities to them.
Some of the furniture and cabinets and wood from the old house have been purchased by a retail store in Pleasanton that will re-purpose them to sell or for displays in their shop. They have a great eye for taking something old and making it into something very nice. Here are some pictures of items they have bought to re-purpose. We still have many many more items that will be for sale.
See how good your eye is and what you would make out of these items.

Hermosa Francisco Tile

We have close to 500 four-inch squares of this tile. It is from the 1950's.
It is Hermosa Francisco Tile.

We also had about 200 of these tiles. They were purchased in the early 60's from a tile store in Santa Clara, Ca. They are rounded on the one side.
The art department of one of the Concord, California schools bought them for mosaic projects.

Tabletop or door?

This large piece of wood was either a door or a hinged table that dropped down from a wall. It weighs close to 200 lbs.
It has been purchased to be refinished and made into a counter top for a kitchen island. When it is finished I will post a picture.
